Vision
Flexible vision coverage for California school district employees, offered through VSP (Vision Service Plan).
About ACSIG's Vision Program
Beginning October 1, 1988, ACSIG partnered with Vision Service Plan (VSP) to establish the ACSIG Vision Program. The program is 100% self-funded through VSP and offers participating agencies the flexibility to enroll on either a fixed rate or self-funded basis.
- Fixed Rate - Participating agencies pay a fixed monthly premium per enrolled employee. Rates are developed through underwriting based on each agency's selected plan design and benefit offerings.
- Self-Funded - Participating agencies pay the actual cost of vision claims incurred, along with VSP administrative fees and ACSIG administrative fees. Claims and administrative fees are billed monthly in arrears, providing a transparent funding arrangement that reflects actual utilization.
Program Governance
Vision program rates and administrative fees are reviewed annually and presented to the ACSIG Joint Powers Authority (JPA) Board for approval each May as part of the annual renewal process.
Program Overview
Currently, more than 57 school districts and over 53,000 employees participate in the ACSIG Vision Program. The program provides participating districts with significant flexibility in plan design and represents approximately $9.4 million in annual program funding. ACSIG partners with Alliant Insurance Services, Inc. for underwriting, program administration, and strategic consulting, and with Vision Service Plan (VSP) for eligibility and billing services.
Vision Resources
ACSIG partners with VSP to provide vision coverage to over 53,000 employees statewide. To find an eye doctor, check benefits, or get a new ID card, start with VSP.
